Why I Seldom Code Anymore

by Mike

I enjoy coding. It allows me to scratch personal itches and depending on who you ask I am pretty good at it… but I rarely do it anymore.

A lot of my projects are big, too big to do alone and often with many parts that are not in my core skill set. It makes sense to subcontract or outsource these tasks, especially when there are people willing to do a few logo designs for $5 on sites like fiverr.com.

Increasingly, it has made more sense to outsource more and more of the project and just act as an architect and project manager. I know how everything is supposed to work and fit together and this just seems like a better use of my time at present - especially as my schedule seems to be moving more towards the manager than the maker
